An Opportunity for Prayerful Intervention

BREAKING NEWS FROM THE CONSERVATIVE POLICY CONVENTION:
URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Today Conservative Party delegates met to vote on policies that could shape legislation for the 40th Parliament. These votes determined which policies will be brought before the larger membership for a final vote tomorrow. The 4MY Canada team has been working hard on-site handing out flyers, and in conversations with delegates, to get support for critical resolutions - specifically P 207 (A resolution to protect pregnant women that is very similar to C-484 (Unborn Victims of Crime) that we worked on all spring/summer). We are excited to bring you an update on what happened this morning! THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS E-MAIL, HOWEVER, IS TO ASK YOU TO PRAY THAT THESE RESOLUTIONS PASS TOMMORROW.
.
QUICK UPDATE:
.
P 207 UNBORN VICTIMS OF CRIME: Following a lot of lobbying and a heated debate, P 207 (Protecting Pregnant Women) passed first vote in a very crowded room in its workshop session! This means that tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon it will be voted on to see whether it will become official Conservative Policy or not. There is a lot of underground support for P 207 but there is also aggressive opposition.
WHY P 207 IS SO IMPORTANT:
If P 207 passes tomorrow, it lays a lot of groundwork for bringing in winnable legislation to protect unborn children. The final debate and vote will be Saturday (the 15th) afternoon from 2:30-5 (Ottawa Time; 1:30-4pm Winipeg Time). PLEASE PRAY.
PLEASE JOIN US FROM 2:30-5PM OTTAWA TIME IN PRAYER WHILE THE FINAL VOTES ARE HAPPENING:
1. pray that the right people show up to vote.
2. please pray that the vote would happen at the perfect time (we are told these votes go by fast, so timing is everything).
3. pray that those who oppose the bill would either change their mind or be hindered through circumstance.
4. please agree with us in prayer for MASSIVE FAVOUR on this policy
5. please pray for grace and strength for our 2 on-site team members who have been working very hard, have been very effective, but are very tired (smile) - they are going to need an extra energy push (FYI - our team has been the primary group working on the ground at the convention to get P 207 passed.)
.
MORE AMAZING NEWS! KEEP PRAYING CANADA!
.
P 119 HUMAN TRAFFICKING: Another very important resolution that passed first reading this morning was P 119. It actually passed unanimously! This resolution would put combatting human trafficking in the list of Foreign Affairs Principles that the Conservative Party gives priority to. This is very good news because over 8,000 people in Canada are victims of human trafficking each year, and with the Olympics coming to Vancouver (it's a proven fact that human trafficking and the sex trade skyrocket in cities hosting the Olympics) we need this issue to be a top priority in government. PRAY THAT THIS RESOLUTION PASSES TOMORROW.
.
P 203 HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSIONS: Also a huge victory today, the policy resolution that would take away the Human Rights Commissions' power to attack free speech passed by a landslide in its breakout session this morning. This resolution would amend the Conservative Party's Policy on Human Rights Commissions to state that the Conservative Party supports legislation removing authority from Human Rights Commissions to use Section 13.1 of the Canadian Human Rights Act to persecute free speech. Section 13.1 is the section that was used against Rev. Stephen Boisson, Catholic Insight Magazine, Maclean's Magazine, and many many others. For more information on Human Rights trials in Canada, you can go to our Informed Freedom page by clicking here. PRAY THAT THIS PASSES ON THE FLOOR TOMORROW AND IS THE BEGINNING OF MANY PIECES OF LEGISLATION THAT BRING ACCOUNTABILITY TO CANADA'S HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSIONS.
.
P 205 Arctic Sovereignty: The Conservative Party just passed its first policy resolution on arctic soveriegnty. Right now, MY Canada has not heard if it received enough votes to be one of the resolutions that goes to the floor tomorrow, but even if it doesn't the fact that it had so much support today is an indication that there is a lot of unity in the Conservative party to ensure political and economic development in the North, make substantial investments into transportation in the North, and fast track the transfer of power for "provincial type" responsibilities from Federal Departments to the Territories. PRAY FOR CONTINUED WISDOM, SENSITIVITY, AND UNITY AS PARLIAMENT WORKS ALONGSIDE THE FIRST PEOPLE TO ASSERT ARCTIC SOVEREIGNTY IN CANADA.
.
P 210 FAMILY AND MARRIAGE: On first glance, this resolution appeared to protect religious organizations from Human Rights Tribunals for upholding the traditional definition of marriage. However, on closer look, it also amended Conservative Policy by striking down the core value that the Conservative Party itself upholds the traditional view of marriage. The good news is that this resolution (and another nearly identical to it) were overwhelmingly defeated this morning and died. THIS MEANS THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY STILL UPHOLDS THE TRADITIONAL DEFINITION OF MARRIAGE.
.
By supper time tomorrow, all of these (and more) constitutional and policy issues will have been voted on. There is rarely a time when so many important issues are being voted on in such a short time span. This is a window of opportunity to shape the decisions of the Conservative party through prayer and action, lets seize it!

A CALL TO ACTION FOR CANADA

Though it has not yet hit the national media with force, evidence is mounting that the Order of Canada will likely be awarded to abortionist Henry Morgentaler tomorrow on Canada Day. This award, which is the highest honour that can be given to a civilian in Canada, is meant to be reserved for Canadian heroes. In the eyes of so many Canadians (many of whom are women) Morgentaler is anything but a heroe. Now (LITERALLY) is the time to express your views on this to those that have been responsible for pushing his nomination forward.

In our update late Saturday night we gave you action steps [click here to go there now]. Late last night we also tracked down the phone numbers of all those who are on the nomination committee, or affiliated. PLEASE take a couple minutes today to give these offices listed below a call and express to them disapproval of this decision. Let's jam their phone lines.

[Click here to read amazing article just posted on-line with the National Post about the nomination.]

Advisory Council Has Voted to Award Order of Canada to Abortionist Henry Morgentaler

Pro-life organizations and the public appear to have been deliberately blind-sided by sudden decision for major holiday weekend

OTTAWA, June 29, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - LifeSiteNews has received confirmation through various sources that the Order of Canada Advisory Council has indeed voted to award the Order of Canada to notorious abortionist and militant atheist Henry Morgentaler today or tomorrow. There is reported to be a movement among Members of Parliament and others to attempt to stop the award or at least protest it as being inappropriate and against the opinion of a majority of Canadians.
In an article in the National Post today, columnist Douglas Farrow reports that "The decision, which is to be announced in time for Canada Day, is clearly not driven by popular demand. For example, an online poll by the Globe and Mail, with over 300,000 respondents, went 92% to 8% against giving the award to Morgentaler."
The public and leaders of various organizations opposed to the granting of the Order of Canada to Morgentaler seem to have been deliberately blind-sided by this sudden development over Canada's major annual holiday weekend when most are pre-occupied by family and community activities. Nevertheless, pro-life organizations are scrambling to get as many people as possible to inundate the Governor General, the Prime Minister and Canada's MPs with emails and telephone calls protesting the decision.

Pressure Continues to Mount for Amendments to Human Rights Commission

“Here is a little known fact about Canada. It is today a country where you can say or write things that are true and yet still be brought before a tribunal.

“That tribunal can fine you; it can order you to pay money to the people who complained about your words; it can force you to issue an apology; it can do all three.

“That’s not all though. The people who complained will not need to hire a lawyer.

“Their costs will be picked up by the state, by the taxpayers.

“You on the other hand, will have to hire a lawyer to defend yourself.

And there will be no award of costs at the end, so that even if you win, you will still be out of pocket to your lawyers tens of thousands of dollars.

“Of course, you will not win.

“Why? Because in the entire history of these Canadian tribunals, hearing these cases, those people like you who have been hauled before these tribunals have never won - not one single time [on cases citing Section 13.1 of the Human Rights Act - the hate crimes provision].

“The complainants always win.”

James Allan, University of Queensland Professor of Law

In a major development in late May, Conservative MP Rick Dykstra (St.

Catharines) put forward a motion that could mark the beginning of decisive changes to the corrupt practices within Canada’s human rights

Commissions.

As a Member of Parliament’s Justice and Human Rights Committee, his motion calls for an investigation into the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC), including how the thought crimes provision (Section

13 of the Human Rights Act) has been applied and interpreted.

This is great news!

If passed by the 12 member committee when it meets again, this motion will allow for the establishment of an investigation, possibly as soon as this fall!

A public scrutiny of the CHRC and section 13 of the CHRA is long overdue considering the avalanche of continued abuses by human rights commissions across the country.

TAKE ACTION

Your voice is needed to speak out for freedom of speech and religion!

Mr. Dykstra needs your help to build momentum and support for this critical Justice Committee motion.

Write to your MP, the Justice Minister and the Liberal and NDP Justice Critics. Ask for their support for this vital investigation. A carbon copy of your personalized letter will be sent to Mr. Dykstra and your provincial justice minister.

I) Meet the Victims of Human Rights Commissions

“[Boissoin] has to publicly humiliate himself, by publicly declaring his contrition -- a contrition he does not feel -- and his abandonment of his deeply-held religious beliefs.”

“Other than tribunals in Stalin’s Soviet Union and Mao’s China, where is this Orwellian ‘order’ considered to be justice?”

“This is like a Third World jail-house confession -- where accused criminals are forced to sign false statements of guilt. We don’t even ‘order’ murders to apologize to their victims’ families. Because we know that a forced apology is meaningless. But not if your point is to degrade Christian Pastors.”

Ezra Levant

Stephen Boissoin

“An Alberta Human Rights Commission panel has ordered a former Christian youth pastor to apologize in the pages of the Red Deer Advocate for a 2002 letter to the editor he wrote opposing homos_xual* activism.

“In a May 30 decision, AHRC panelist Lori Andreachuk also ordered Stephen Boissoin, 41, to request the Advocate publish her judgment against him.

“She has also imposed a lifetime ban on ever speaking or writing ‘disparagingly’ about homos_xuals* – in the media, on the Internet, in speaking engagements or in emails….

“Andreachuk also ordered Boissoin to pay complainant Darren Lund $5,000 for ‘pain and suffering’ even though Lund is not a member of the

homos_xual* community. He must also pay one of Lund’s witnesses up to $2,000 for her expenses.”

Orville Nichols

A Saskatchewan Human Rights Tribunal has fined provincial marriage commissioner Orville Nichols $2,500 for declining to perform a “marriage” ceremony for two men. “The pair filed the human rights complaint against the commissioner, Orville Nichols, despite the fact that he referred them to a commissioner who would perform the ceremony and the wedding went ahead….”

The solemnization of marriages is a provincial responsibility.

Only three provinces, B.C., Alberta, and PEI, have recognized modest accommodation of conscience and religious rights with respect to marriage commissioners or their equivalents, according to a 2006 article in the Canadian Bar Review.

Newfoundland, Manitoba and Saskatchewan have mandated commissioners to perform ceremonies, without any accommodation of conscience.

Christian Horizons

On April 25, the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal decreed that Christian Horizons, the largest provider of residential services for developmentally disabled adults in Ontario, must pay $23,000 plus two years’ wages to a lesbian employee who had been dismissed for violating the Evangelical Christian agency’s moral code which requires employees to uphold the basic tenets of Christian morality, including abstinence

from s_x* outside of marriage between a man and a woman.

Catholic Insight

“In February 2007, Rob Wells, a member of the Pride Centre of Edmonton, filed a nine-point complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission, alleging that Catholic Insight had targeted homos_xuals*….”

“Wells’s complaint consists of three pages of isolated and fragmentary extracts from articles dating back as far as 1994, without any context.

Catholic Insight counters that these isolated quotes are not meaningful without the contexts of the articles themselves from which they were culled; in fact, most of them are even out of context from the sentences from which they were taken.”

Their legal expenses, in defence of this human rights complaint and other actions launched by activists, have reached $20,000.

Christian Heritage Party

“Canada’s Christian Heritage Party and its leader, Ron Gray, are being taken to the Canadian Human Rights Commission [by Rob Wells who launched the Catholic Insight complaint] over commentary and opinion related to how the government and society should treat homos_xuality.* And Gray says he’s been told directly by an employee of the Human Rights Commission that the Canadian Human Rights Act is ‘about censorship.’”

Unlike the individuals and organizations cited above who are the victims of HRC complaints, the two individuals below had the fortitude to bring forward human rights applications for judicial review in attempts to have their religious rights accommodated in the work place.

So far both applications have been denied.

Susan Comstock

Last month, the Federal Court of Appeal dismissed Treasury Board of Canada employee Susan Comstock’s appeal for a diversion of her mandatory union dues on conscientious grounds. “Through a provision of her collective agreement with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), she had sought to divert her mandatory union dues to charity because of the union’s direct and active support for same s_x* “marriage,” and its zero tolerance policies against what it termed homophobia and heteros_xism.* In her application, she argued that this advocacy violated her conscience as a Roman Catholic and was therefore unacceptable.”

Kevin Kisilowsky

In October 2004 all marriage commissioners in Manitoba were issued a letter stating that if they were not willing to perform wedding ceremonies for same gender couples they were to resign their positions.

At least 12 commissioners resigned after the province introduced this policy.

Marriage commissioner Kevin Kisilowsky, 36 at the time, refused to resign. Instead he fought to defend his religious freedom by filing a complaint in 2004 with the Manitoba Human Rights Commission, arguing that the province was discriminating against his religious beliefs by forcing him to conduct marriage ceremonies that went against his Christian faith. The commission agreed to investigate his case.

During the investigation, the provincial government argued that Mr.

Kisilowsky’s refusal would cause “undue hardship,” although no evidence was supplied by the government to back up this claim. The HRC investigator acknowledged that the Government’s actions discriminated against Mr. Kisilowsky, however in 2006 his complaint was dismissed.

The Provincial government then revoked Mr. Kisilowsky's commissioner's license.

“Kisilowsky is now appealing to the Court of Queen’s Bench, and has said he will take his case to the Supreme Court if necessary.”

II) Update on MP Keith Martin’s Motion to Remove Hate Crimes Provision

You’ll recall that Liberal MP Keith Martin introduced Private Members’

Motion M-446 in order to draw attention to abuses that have been taking place in provincial and federal Human Rights Commissions.

His motion specifically calls for the removal of the controversial hate crimes provision Subsection 13 (1) from the Canadian Human Rights Act.

Alan Borovoy of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, the Canadian Association of Journalists, and PEN Canada are on record as supporting the repeal of this section.

Unfortunately, Mr. Martin drew such a low number in the “lottery” for private members’ business precedence that it is unlikely that his motion will receive first reading prior to the next election. (He drew number 118 and since the Conservatives came to power two and a half years ago Parliament has given first reading to less than 70.)

Undaunted, on June 2 Mr. Martin introduced another Private Members’

motion to keep the spotlight on Human Rights Commission abuses.

Hi new motion M-503 states, “That, in the opinion of the House, the government should hold public hearings as part of a review of the Canadian Human Rights Act, the Canadian Human Rights Commission and its tribunal.

Thank you Mr. Martin for your continued efforts to draw attention to attacks on our freedoms!

III) Good News! MP Rick Dykstra’s Motion for Investigation into CHRC

After considerable silence on the issue for some time, the federal Conservatives are actively working to initiate an investigation into the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC).

In May, MP Rick Dykstra put forward a motion to the Justice & Human Rights Committee to conduct an investigation into the practices of the CHRC, including how the thought crimes provision (Section 13 of the Human Rights Act) has been applied and interpreted.

As a member of this committee, Mr. Dykstra has the ability to bring motions directly to the Justice & Human Rights committee, thus bypassing the long process Mr. Martin’s motions are having to endure in the House of Commons.

Mr. Dykstra’s motion states:

Whereas concerns have been raised regarding the investigative techniques of the Canadian Human Rights Commission (the "Commission") and the interpretation and application of section 13 of the Canada Human Rights Act (the "Act"); and

Whereas the Commission operates independently and reports to Parliament;

Be it resolved that the Justice and Human Rights Committee examine and make recommendations with respect to the Canadian Human Rights Commission and in particular:

a) review the mandate and operations of the Commission;

b) Review the Commission's application and interpretation of section 13 of the Act;

c) Solicit and consider oral submissions from the Chief Commissioner and oral or written submissions from other interested persons or organizations;

d) Submit a report, including any proposed amendments to the Canadian Human Rights Act arising out of the results of the Committee's inquiry.

IV) Federal Justice Minister Supports Investigation

After saying little about the controversy for the last six months, Federal Justice Minister Rob Nicholson has recently spoken out briefly on the subject of Human Rights Commission reform.

In a letter sent to a voter on May 30 Mr. Nicholson wrote:

“I would like to inform you that my caucus colleague Mr. Rick Dykstra has tabled a motion that the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights examine and make recommendations with respect to the CHRC, including its mandate, operations, and interpretation and application of provisions relating to section 13 of the CHRA, which addresses hate messages. I look forward to that review.”

We are grateful that Canada’s Justice Minister supports a review of the CHRC.

Now we need the Justice Committee to support Mr. Dykstra’s resolution to begin the process.

Take Action:

We are quick to criticize government when they are headed in the wrong direction.

Let us be even quicker to commend when they are headed in the right direction!

STEP 1 – Send your Letter of Support to Ottawa!

Write to your MP, the Justice Minister, and the Liberal and NDP justice critics to let them know of your support for an investigation into the CHRC. A carbon copy of your letter will be sent to Mr. Dykstra and your provincial justice minister.

All it takes is 5 minutes to make a difference.

STEP 2 – Inform Others!

Forward or print this newsletter to inform others.

STEP 3 – Call your MP

Grand Theft Auto - Stealing the Minds of Children and Young Adults

Grand Theft Culture: The Entertainment Industry Goes for the Jugular
A game that glorifies brutal criminality and enables players to fantasize their participation in mind-numbing barbarism

Commentary By Matthew Cullinan Hoffman

May 2, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The debut of "Grand Theft Auto IV", a highly-realistic video game in which players "win" by committing violent criminal acts, is notable for several reasons, but most importantly because of what it says about a society that is engaged in an orgy of self-destruction, and cannot even recognize what is happening.

The Grand Theft Auto series makes the player into a criminal who wins points by stealing cars, assassinating rivals, killing police, running over pedestrians, and even murdering a prostitute with a baseball bat rather than paying her. It is, in short, a game that glorifies brutal criminality and enables players to fantasize their participation in mind-numbing barbarism.

The fact alone that Grand Theft Auto IV is expected to earn more than $400 million during its run, rivaling the most popular movie releases, speaks volumes about what has happened to the U.S. during the last fifty years. What would once have seemed like a blatant and massive assault on our society by a commercial interest, is now a blockbuster form of entertainment.

Mainstream publications such as Business Week yawn at the moral objections raised against such software, and instead rave about the realistic graphics, referring to the game as "Grand Theft Awesome". "We have a hard time imagining anyone picking up this game and not feeling like this is one of the best $60 purchases they've made in a long time," says the reviewer, seemingly unconcerned that he is talking about a murder simulator.

The new version of the game and the mentality it promotes have already claimed their first victim. A man standing in line waiting to purchase the game on the first night of sales in south London stabbed a passer-by. "It was a scene straight from the game itself," said one witness.

"Grand Theft Auto", as monstrous as it is, is only a single example of the Culture of Death that is overwhelming what is left of Anglo-American civilization.

For decades, moviemakers and broadcasters have competed with one another to create the most perverse and shocking kinds of violence, explicit sexual scenes, and human degradation that the mind can imagine. The music industry has fed generations of teenagers and young adults with music that glorifies murder, rape, and every kind of immorality.

Americans watch, stupefied, as children and adults who were fed on this poisoned cultural diet enter their schools, workplaces and even their churches and open fire against their peers, attempting to kill as many people as possible before taking their own lives. Such events never happened before the modern cultural onslaught from the electronic media, despite the availability of firearms, but virtually no one seems to make the connection.

The violence that increasingly appears in public places is only a pale reflection of the atrocities that occur thousands of times a week in "clinics" across the United States, where doctors tear babies to pieces inside their own mothers wombs, and in hospitals, where the sick and infirm are put to death in cold utilitarian fashion.

"Grand Theft Auto IV", is, simply put, a symptom of a civilization in decline, a society that is being consumed by the Culture of Death. The fact that the symptom goes virtually unrecognized tells us how advanced the illness is. The utter moral debasement of the Anglophone world can only presage its eventual political, economic, and military collapse, following the iron law of history that the fall of a civilization is always preceded by internal decay.

The only question left is: how much longer can a society last after having reached such depths of depravity? Sadly, we can only wait, and watch, hoping that somehow the United States and its cultural satellites will awaken before it is too late.

40 DAY FASTRACK!

"There will be three 40-day periods when we overthrow
major strongholds that are holding treasures captive." Chuck Pierce

Inviting you to Participate
in the 40 Day Fast Track www.fastrack40.ca

Haven't you noticed the many 40 day prayer and fasting initiatives happening?

Churches and regions all over Canada are committing to 40 days of prayer and fasting. Just today a pastor shared that their church is fasting for 40 days, Victoria BC is currently fasting and praying 50 days, the 40 day Prayer Ramp is happening April 23, May 12 kick starts the 40 day Fast Track initiative and calling 5 different regions all across Canada to 40 days of prayer and fasting, (that's 200 days in total!)

Consider a word God gave Chuck Pierce:

"This will be a year when forces vie for momentum. God will be moving on us! Will we respond to Him? The enemy forces that we have not resisted will be moving with force to slow down a Kingdom that is advancing in the earth realm. We must bind the strongman's operation and gain access to the spoils. We must start moving as the people of God did when they left Egypt and keep moving until we reach the manifested Promise for this generation. We must not allow the voices of fear, unbelief and doubt to stop us from advancing. There will be three 40-day periods when we overthrow major strongholds that are holding treasures captive. " by Chuck Pierce -

complete word found at www.elijahlist.com/words/display_word/5622

I believe - God is setting us up, God has not forgotten Canada! He is calling us to prayer so He can bring a fresh move upon us! We will not sit on the side lines and watch other nations experience a move of God! We will enter into the manifested promises that he has for Canada and our churches for this is our destiny. Strongholds will be over thrown and all the treasures that have been held captive will be released! The harvest will come in and our next generation who will serve the Living God in righteousness and passion! This He will do as we pray and obey!

"Whenever God determines to do a great work He first sets His people praying" by Charles Surgeon. I’m convinced that these 40 day prayer periods is a call of God and He is setting us up that He might pour out a mighty move of God.
