Present Prayer Concerns:

1. The continuing theme of our prayers on the Saturday prayer call was “consecration”. Watchmen for the Nations, led by David Damien, has called Canada to a 52 day consecration period that began on July 23rd. Please pray that many Canadians will set this time aside for prayer and fasting and consecration. Pray against a recent poll that showed that evangelical Christians are too busy for God. Pray that believers will take time each day to spend with the Lord in prayer and communication. Pray for Watchmen as they meet in the days to come to hear corporately the voice of the Lord.

2. Prayer for the military. They are facing unbearable heat, as well as danger. Pray for salvation. Pray that there will be unity between the government and the military leaders. At this time, there is great division and distrust.

3. Pray for the cabinet shuffle that is taking place this week. Pray for the new appointments. Pray especially for the new Minister of Defence portfolio (Peter McKay) as he takes on a very difficult role, especially with the opposition parties’ stand against our troops in Afghanistan .Pray that the Prime Minister will make the right decision on proroguing Parliament. If this happens, the Age of Consent legislation will die as will the Kyoto legislation.

4. Prayer for unity in Canada. There has been several great strides made in the unity process in the last week…PTL! Our prayers are working! Pray for unity. Pray for humility and respect and honour by our elected officials to each other.

5. Prayer the South Korean Christian missionaries taken captive by the Taliban in Afghanistan three weeks ago. There are 16 women and three men who are still being held hostage. Pray for supernatural protection and release for the hostages.

6. Prayer for the National House of Prayer (NHOP) as they take some time to recharge their batteries in the summer months as they prepare for a very active schedule in the fall and winter. Pray for Rob and Fran Parker. Pray for Richard and Terry Long. These are very gifted leaders who need our prayers in such a time as this.

7. Prayer for the Imagine Church Planting Conference in November. This is a national initiative to strategize and implement plans to reach Canada and provide churches that will meet the population demands across our nation.

8. Prayer for the many conferences in the months ahead: Heavens Rehearsal at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on September 15th;Rise Up Manitoba in Winnipeg on September 8-9; a Youth Gathering in Winnipeg on August 27th focus is breakthrough for University of Manitoba, and Nov. Kingdom Come conference with Todd Bentley in Winnipeg.

9. Pray for Israel. Pray for peace and protection. Israel is being threatened on all sides by nations who want her wiped off the map. The situation is more serious now than it has been since last summer. The weapons amassed by Israel’s enemies are now able to hit any part of Israel at will. Pray that the USA will not force Israel to give up land for peace. This will bring a curse on the Americans and will not lead to peace. Pray the Evangelical leaders that recently wrote a deplorable letter to the President will understand the division that is being sown in the spirit realm by their actions.

10. Prayer for “Light The Highway” Global Prayer initiative happening.

Starting Oct 27, 2007, 35 days of prayer driving on Tran Canada Highway ending with USA and Canada border reconciliation at all provincial borders; PRAY PROTECTION: USA Minneapolis Bridge destruction/collapse happened on I-35. and I-35 is USA’s “Light the Highway” highway that is being prayed. Pray for them and for Canada, as we too declare holiness on our highway and Nation. Declare Matt. 6:33 for Canada (If interested in participating in Canada’s 2007 “Light the Highway holiness prayer initiative contact Shirley Hildebrand; ebox@mts.net)

Focus Word: Received by Shirley Hildebrand (Winker Manitoba)

During our City’s 2007 Canada Day celebration, the Lord highlighted the name of five different “Focus” cars all within a very short period of time. I asked God what He was saying, Phil 3 came immediately to mind and over the course of days God brought more light through other scriptures including that Canada's Highway Prayer Drive focus is Matt 6:33, and the #1 Highway (Trans Canada) is the main artery flowing through Canada. The # 1 focus is to - seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

(Five meaning grace – and cars often speak of ministries)

Focus - Focus - Focus - Focus – Focus!

Increase in grace! Not having divided interests with the world but grace available to have undivided focus, setting out eyes on the heavenly, to seek FIRST the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Let the main thing be the main thing. Forget the past and press, reach for that which God has called us to.

Article in Manitoba Winnipeg Free Press July 12, 2007, speaks of Canada having “divided personalities”. The reporter (Lorne Roberts) quoted Margaret Wood in his article saying, “If the national mental illness of the Unites States is megalomania, then that of Canada is paranoid schizophrenia.” Atwood’s suggests that, as a nation, we seem to be almost constantly fretting about who we are, why we can’t get along, and what it means to us. A confused national identity…

God is granting grace and power, helping us to focus, calling us to focus, to set our affections on the things above and not on earth, not to be divided and mixed in our love and desires, giving Him undivided hearts to seek and pursue Him with one heart – with God being God - serving no other gods. Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. Ps 86:11

- Focus; press in to know Christ, His resurrection power, fellowship of suffering Patiently enduring unjust punishment Phil 3, 1 Peter 3

- Focus on confidence on Christ alone –no confidences in the flesh

- Focus on forgetting the past

- Focus on reaching and pressing unto to the high calling we have been called to

- Focus on heavenly things - turn from allowing the god of our stomachs to rule us – seeking heavenly things rather than earthly

- Seek those things that are above, “set” (align) your affections on the things above not on the things of the earth. Col 3

- Divided interests and divided hearts – we need to focus on loving as God not friendship with the world – other gods. James 4

- We are like unfaithful wives with divided hearts

- But through humility and repentance God gives us grace upon grace to overcome and help us focus.

- Stubbornness (doing our way) is like idolatry 1Sam. 15: 23

- Shun, run from idolatry (loving anything above God) 1 Cor. 10:14

Thank you to every diligent prayer person who stands in the gap to intercede for Canada at this pivotal time in Canadian history. You are changing history in the eternal and historical realms through your prayers and intercessions, even though it seems like little progress is being made. One day each of us will see the difference we have made through prayer and then we will be elated that we persevered.
